I'm a partner at Amity Ventures, a concentrated early stage fund in San Francisco. We keep the portfolio deliberately small: deep with a few founders rather than shallow with many.

The mechanics, for founders who like specifics: we lead pre-seed and seed rounds, typically with $3M to $5M checks, and we make very few investments, so each one has to matter. Most of my attention right now goes to vertical AI, AI-native services firms, and founders rebuilding regulated industries around agents.

What "deep" looks like in practice: I'm in the company Slack, solving problems and adding emojis. This past year with xFigura, where I sit on the board, that meant redlining enterprise contracts, rebuilding pricing and packaging, sitting in on sales calls, recruiting from my network and then helping close the candidates, joining the CEO on the conference floor to work the booth, and building AI agents that handle billing and customer communications.

The rest of the job doesn't have a clean name. Building a company is lonely, and a lot of what I do is just being all-in with the founder: not just the board meeting... the midnight call crafting the response to the scary message from your biggest customer, scripting the hard conversation with the high performer who's gone sideways, or picking through the redlines on the deal you can't afford to lose.

I earned those instincts by operating. Square's Finance & Strategy team from pre-IPO through the IPO. Then CFO at Flatfile (seed to Series B) and EvenUp (Series A to Series E), raising over half a billion dollars along the way. The title said finance; the job was owning whatever scaling needed next: sales ops, data and analytics, recruiting, legal. Before all that: investment banking and picking stocks at Citadel, plus a Wharton MBA with a summer in Nairobi at Branch, building its first financial model, standing up a collections team, and helping catch a fraud attack.

These days I spend an unreasonable amount of time building with AI. I run everything in work and life on Claude Code, and my executive assistant is not, strictly speaking, a person. Much of the writing here is about what that actually looks like in practice: where I've seen leverage, where I've had fun building, and the lessons I've learned along the way.

I live in the East Bay with my wife and two kids. Off hours: mostly tinkering and family, lifting, the occasional EDM festival, and following Cal sports, the Warriors, and the Chargers. Yes, this site was vibe-coded - as it should be.
